Funding with Popcorn

It costs approximately $5,000.00 per year to run Pack 153’s program. The money raised by selling Trails End popcorn helps to defer the cost of all the fabulous activities and events that the Pack schedules year-round, summers included. The goal of each Scout is to sell $300 to help the Pack and local Three Fires Council maximize the scouting experience. Over 70% of each sale comes back to Scouts: 30% to the Pack Unit, 30% to Council and 10% for the Prizes & Incentives.

Here are some of Pack 153's activities and events that are paid for with the popcorn funds:

  1. Entertainment for Pack Meetings
  2. Holiday Party
  3. Pinewood Derby
  4. Blue and Gold Banquet
  5. Camp-o-rama [weekend pack camp-out full of activities and entertainment]
  6. Summertime Events: Cougars Game, Family Biking, Fishing Derby, Sycamore Speedway and the Twilight Camp at Good Templar Park.

 

Prize Incentives

Order FormTrails End offers many different prizes and incentives for Scouts based upon amount of dollars sold in popcorn. Click here to view a list of the available prizes.

They also offer a"$600 Club patch and Marshmellow Crossbow for selling $600 in popcorn. More incentives await for making popcorn sales online at the Trails End website to out-of-town friends and family. See below section for details on selling online.

 

$1,500 SELLERS' CLUB

Sell $1,500 or more and earn a $50 Wal-Mart -OR- Amazon.com Gift Card and a "$600 Club" patch in addition to a prize of your choice from the traditional sale prizes. Online sales count toward the $1,500 Sellers' Club.

Turn in your completed order forms to your Kernels, and he or she will order the gift card and patch for you.

 

 

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Scouts who sell $2,500 within the 2010 calendar year will receive 6% of their total sales invested in their own college scholarship account. That's $0.06 of every dollar you sell, and you only have to hit the $2,500 minimum one time. Once you are enrolled, 6% of your sales each year will be added to your account. Online sales count!

 

THREE FIRES COUNCIL INCENTIVES
In addition to the above, the Three Fires Council is offering it's own prizes to local Scouts:

1 FILLED ORDER FORM = 1 FREE BOW & MALLOW!
Fill up all the lines on your order form with popcorn sales and bring your order form to one of the two Council Scout Shops to claim your price!

CHICAGO WOLVES GAME TICKETS

For those scouts who sell $1,100 or more of popcorn they will receive two (2) tickets to the January 15, 2011 game and a special recognition item from the Chicago Wolves. There are three different Wolves Game prize levels so get out there and sell that popcorn!

 

PACK 153 INCENTIVES

ADDITIONALLY, Pack 153 provides its own incentive to the Scouts:

  1. Monetary Prizes: 1st Prize: $100 cash, 2nd Prize: $75 cash, & 3rd Prize: $50 cash
  2. Pie(s) in the face: 1 pie for selling at least $300 and 2 pies for selling $450 and over

 

 

Selling Online

Think of all of the out-of-town friends and family member you can sell to by creating an account for your Scout online with Trails End!

Trails End offers EXCLUSIVE online selling incentives IN ADDITION to the traditional prizes!

  1. Bonus Giveaway* Any Scout who sells at least $200 online between December 1 and midnight EST December 24, will earn a BONUS $20 Walmart.com gift card from Trail's End!
  2. Earn Amazon.com Gift Cards* Outside of your fall sale period, you can earn Amazon.com gift cards for your additional online sales in the 2010 calendar year. Once you sell $250 online (excluding any online sales placed on your behalf between August 1, 2010 and your fall sale end date), you will earn 5% of your total online sales back in Amazon.com Gift Cards from Trail's End.
  3. Don't forget! ALL online sales count toward the $1,500 Sellers' Club and College Scholarship!

Key Dates and Deadlines

UNSOLD POPCORN
All unsold popcorn is due back to The Callahan's by Friday, October 29th, 2010. If The Callahan's do not receive it by the 29th, they will be under the assumption that your Scout has sold all the items that he checked out and we will be receiving the money by November 1st, 2010.

ORDER FORMS AND MONEY
All order forms and money are due to The Callahan's by Monday, November 1st. Please contact them for drop-off times. Also, kindly have your child select the appropriate prize(s) BEFORE heading over to The Callahan's.

ORDERED POPCORN PICK-UP
Pack 153's Kernels ran out of popcorn quickly this year, and so some of our Scouts may have taken orders for popcorn. If this happened to you, the popcorn should be available for pick-up at the warehouse on "Super Saturday", November, 6th, 2009. The Callahan's will pick-up the popcorn this day, and bring it to their house. You may call The Callahan's to arrange a pick-up time for the popcorn needed to fill your orders.
